Delta Force Tempest Guide: Abilities, Gadgets, Weapons and Gameplay Tips

  • Tempest was added in Delta Force in the Season 5 update, on 9th July, 2025.
  • Tempest’s Combat Roll and Drill Charge ability make her one of the best assault-class operators in Delta Force.
  • You can pair Tempest with a Engineer or Support-class operator to get the best results from her in the game.

The thing that the players have been demanding in Delta Force for a very long time has finally arrived. A brand new Assault-class operator is here in Delta Force. This new operator, Tempest, was introduced on the 9th of July, through the latest in-game Season 5 update. Delta Force also has several operators from different classes. Out of them, Tempest is the one who should be picked as your main assault-class operator with good skillsets.

In this article, I am going to discuss the pros and cons of the newly added Tempest operator in Delta Force. I will also provide some important tips and tricks regarding Tempest, which will help you in battles and make your gameplay with her much smoother.

Delta Force Tempest Guide

Abilities and Traits

Tempest is the latest operator to come into the game. She is an Assault-class operator and possesses quite brilliant skills and traits. Her real name is Claire Ann Byers. Her main ability is the Auxiliary Spine Surge. This particular skill makes her a good option in intense close-quarter combats with lots of chaos. Her other traits and tactical gear also allow her to be more productive in certain circumstances.

I tried Tempest just after she was available in Delta Force. After using her in multiple modes, I believe that she is by far the best assault-class operator in the game. I am saying this because I have compared her skills, gadgets, and traits with other operators.

Some of them may have better technologies or traits, but the way Tempest’s every asset complements each other is unmatched. To know more about the suitable gadgets and loadout, you can check our Loadout guide.

Remember that you need to unlock Tempest to play with her. To do it, you can simply collect her from the free path of the Delta Force Season 5 Battle Pass. You don’t need to buy the premium pass, which is a pretty good thing for free-to-play players.

Just play the game in PvP or PvE mode and level up in the Battle Pass to reach the tier where you will get her. Apart from Tempest, there are also many other operators available in Delta Force. If you want to know about them, simply go through our Operator Tier List.

Trait: Combat Roll

Now, let’s talk about her main trait, which is the Combat Roll. This trait gets triggered automatically and activates Tempest’s auxiliary spine to boost core strength, allowing her to swiftly roll in multiple directions. However, it has a cooldown time, but if you knock down enemies in the cooldown period, it gets reduced. This trait is great for quick repositioning.

Trait: Auxiliary Spine Surge

The second trait of Tempest is called the Auxiliary Spine Surge. It is a passive trait. When Tempest detects a bullet or explosive threat nearby, her auxiliary spine releases electric currents, which greatly enhance her core muscles and increase her sprint speed.

It also increases swimming speed under normal conditions. This trait makes her very useful in aquatic maps like Cyclone.

Ability: Emergency Evasion Device

Tempest’s main ability is the Emergency Evasion Device. It is also her tactical gear. When Tempest installs a gas tank into the device, it launches a safety rope anchor point. When Tempest activates it again or takes fatal damage, she will get pulled back to the anchor point. During this pull-back, she can briefly withstand damage exceeding her maximum health.

If she gets downed during this, she can activate her auxiliary spinal defibrillator to self-revive once. However, it is only available in the Operations mode right now. The safety rope will activate the suspension mode for up to 5 minutes when Tempest falls a certain distance. In my opinion, it is the best second-chance ability skill in Delta Force.

Gadget and Weapons

When we talk about Assault operators, they are known for their expertise in breaking through the hardcore covers and obstacles created by the enemies. Tempest is also the same in this case. Her main gadget is the Drill Charge. While using this gadget, Tempest throws forward a mechanical drill that easily breaks hard surfaces.

After that, it releases a conductive powder and electric currents that penetrate the covers. This special current disarms enemies and temporarily paralyzes them for 3 seconds, which is enough for her to set the place on fire. The radius of that electric field created by the currents is 7×3 meters. Although it doesn’t deal any damage.

Delta Force Tempest Guide: Gameplay Tips

1. Mobility is key

In fights, try to get the tactical advantages of Tempest by using her extensive mobility prowess. She is already a very swift operator thanks to her complementary traits. Use her Combat Roll ability to move from one place to another in the blink of an eye. It’s great for going behind the cover when you’re getting fired at. Try to knock down enemies while staying in the cover so that the cooldown time reduces significantly.

2. Use the scenario accordingly

I have already discussed that Tempest’s skills allow her to move and swim faster. Now it’s time to implement that in real fights. If you are playing in the Cyclone map or any other location where water is nearby, then quickly jump into the water and use the Auxiliary Spine Surge trait to move quickly in the water. Create a good angle and catch your enemies off guard. This is why Tempest is pretty good and flanking.

Mistakes to Avoid with Tempest

  • Do not play like a Tank: As you already know that Tempest is great in duels and close-combats and thrives in chaos, but it doesn’t make her a tank. Simply, she is not built for sustained gunfights. Avoid holding choke-points or pushing head-on into enemies. If the enemy has a heavy-armored operator or a well-covered attacker, you will get shredded in no time.
  • Avoid long-range fights: Tempest’s biggest strength is her mobility. So, it is best when you play her in the close range. Enemies will find it very hard to take her down in close-range thanks to her fast movements and skills. Try to use those advantages and get the upper hand in the battles.

Best Team Compositions with Tempest

To maximize Tempest’s effectiveness on the battlefield, consider the following team compositions:

  • Uluru: Uluru goes pretty well with Tempest thanks to its ability to provide proper cover to other operators and act like a tank. His Quickset Cover gadget can help Tempest a lot while she is in her cooldown period or healing herself during the battles. His Incendiary Grenade also synergizes well with Tempest’s Drill Charge.
  • Shepherd: He is a tailor-made companion for Tempest. If you pair Shepherd’s Sonic Paralysis and Sonic Trap with Tempest’s Drill Charge, it can deal massive damage to the enemies and can easily take down a whole team at once. You can also get profit from his GE2 Frag Grenade as it can deal good damage to all the paralyzed enemies.

Final Thoughts

Tempest is currently the hot topic in Delta Force communities thanks to her immense usability and great skill set. She is a brilliant assault-class operator who can win almost every 1vs1 encounter with the help of her high mobility and gadgets.

Taking her in your team will boost you tactically and offensively and give you a lot of advantages on the battlefield. However, she is still pretty new and has yet to be tested in all the scenarios and circumstances. Only time will tell if she becomes a legend in her category or not! We hope this Delta Force Tempest Guide will help you to get the best results from her.
