- Genshin Impact debuts the new character Skirk, a 5-Star Cryo Sword!
- Genshin Impact also released Dahlia, a new Mondstadt character after so long!
- The trailer teases our Abyss siblings, return of Dainsleif and more lore drops in the new Archon Quest!
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 update, titled “Space and Time for You“, arrives on June 18th, 2025. The upcoming update sounds really exciting as it introduces the enigmatic Skirk as a playable character, continues the intense narrative between the Traveler twins, and brings a host of new events and optimizations!
New Archon Quest: The Traveler Twins’ Paths Cross Again

If you’re like me and have been following the story since Mondstadt, you probably screamed a little when the “Bedtime Story” quest dropped. Now, the plot thickens as we dive deeper into the Traveler vs. Sibling narrative. The Abyss Order is stirring in Natlan, and apparently, we’ll be seeing Dainsleif like never before. I’ve always been drawn to the darker, more emotional side of Genshin’s lore, and this sounds like it’ll deliver some heavy reveals. The idea that we might uncover truths about the sibling’s plan genuinely gives me chills.
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Events
New Permanent Combat Mode: Stygian Onslaught

This part honestly got me hyped the most. Stygian Onslaught is a new permanent combat mode featuring rotating bosses and six levels of difficulty. Rewards include a brand-new item called Dust of Enlightenment, which lets you re-roll substats on Level 20 Artifacts!
Flagship Limited Event: Sumeru’s Simulated Game Mode
We’re also getting a new simulated adventure event from the Sumeru Akademiya, and it sounds like a tactical dream! You build a team from “Companion Pieces,” power them up, and choose your path through a rainforest or desert map. There’s even a bit of randomness thrown in, which sounds like a nice change of pace from traditional event formats. Also, Sethos will be given as a free reward if you complete it.
Mini Events: Lighthearted Stories in “Travelers’ Tales”
To balance the intensity of the main story, we’re also getting cozy mini-stories from across Teyvat. Thoma’s back in Mondstadt, Neuvillette’s visiting Merusea Village, and Dori tries to haggle with Sayu (I’m betting that ends in chaos). These slice-of-life tales are a sweet little breather, and I really appreciate having something chill between all the battles.
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 Update: New playable characters and reruns
Skirk: 5-Star Cryo Sword
After years of speculation, Skirk, the mysterious master of Childe, finally steps into the spotlight as a playable 5-star Cryo character. Known for her deep ties to the Abyss and training under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners, Skirk brings a unique dual-combat style to the battlefield.

Her abilities revolve around Serpent’s Subtlety, a unique resource generated from her skills and talents, allowing her to switch between enhanced Normal Attacks for sustained damage and powerful AoE Cryo damage through her Elemental Burst. Notably, Skirk’s mechanics do not rely on traditional Elemental Energy, setting her apart from other characters.
Moreover, Skirk offers valuable synergy for teams comprising Hydro and Cryo characters, granting an extra level to their Elemental Skills and a significant damage boost to herself.
Dahlia: 4-Star Hydro Sword

Joining Skirk is Dahlia, a new 4-star Hydro support character and the Deacon of the Church of Favonius. Dahlia provides versatile support through a renewable shield created by his Elemental Burst, which can be reactivated by Normal Attacks or Freeze reactions. His talents also boost teammates’ attack speed, and his Elemental Skill can either launch allies into the air or deal Hydro damage to enemies.
Re-runs and Chronicled Wish
The first phase of Version 5.7’s Event Wishes features Skirk, Dahlia, and Shenhe, while the latter half brings reruns for Mavuika and Emilie.
Final Thoughts
Version 5.7 feels like the kind of update that reminds me why I fell in love with Genshin in the first place. Between Skirk’s long-awaited debut, deeper sibling lore, and the artifact re-rolling system (finally!), there’s a little something for everyone. Whether you’re here for the story, the combat, or just the vibes. Personally, I’m diving in headfirst on June 18th!
