Should you pull for Phainon, Tribbie, Sunday or Sparkle in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 Phase 1 banner

  • Phase 1 Banners will go live on the 2nd of July, 2025 and will last till the 22nd of July, 2025!
  • Tribbie has the most pull value out of the rest of the characters in Phase 1 banner!
  • Sparkle has the least pull value as most Harmony units work better with other DPS characters!

Honkai: Star Rail is introducing the Phase 1 banner, featuring Phainon, Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle in Version 3.4. Once again, HoYoverse released a quad banner featuring one newly released character and three re-run characters.

We will assess each character’s strengths and qualities in the future meta of the game and advise on who you should prefer to pull from the four playable characters. Phase 1 Banners will go live on the 2nd of July, 2025, after the update maintenance is complete and will last till the 22nd of July, 2025.

Who should you pull for in HSR version 3.4

Honkai: Star Rail Phase 1 banner featuring Phainon, Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle in Version 3.4, it’s hard deciding who to pull. It depends on your team’s needs and your priorities for future content. Each character brings unique strengths to the table, but some offer more immediate and long-term value than others. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide.

1. Tribbie

Tribbie is simply one of the most broken supports in the entire game. Her value doesn’t lie in flashy numbers or overused buffs like Crit Rate or ATK%, but in unique utility, specifically RES PEN and Damage Taken increase, which are much harder to replicate and scale far better into endgame content.

On top of that, she is skill-point positive, contributes decent personal damage, and can hold ”Dance! Dance! Dance!Light Cone to push action advance. What makes her stand above Sunday is that her buffs don’t oversaturate characters like Phainon, who already receives tons of Crit/ATK from other supports.

While Sunday might look flashier right now due to his synergy with current DPS units, Tribbie is a long-term investment. Her kit is future-proof, and even if new characters are released, odds are she will remain a strong option for them. She’s also a solid fit for Phainon, giving him unique damage scaling that can’t be easily substituted. If you lack her, pulling for Tribbie should be your top priority.

2. Phainon

Phainon is a very cool, unique unit and arguably one of the strongest single-target DPS units we’ve seen. He works like a one-man army, building up points through himself and his supports to eventually transform into a solo powerhouse that wipes the field during his burst window. It’s a fascinating kit, highly stylish, and satisfying to use once you learn how to pilot it.

However, Phainon is not a plug-and-play unit. He demands a very specific team: three carefully chosen supports who can generate points efficiently, preferably Sunday, Bronya, and someone like Tribbie or Robin. He cannot be played with sustain, meaning you’ll have to get used to playing without healers or shielders, unusual for many players.

Plus, using him means locking away popular units like Sunday or Robin from other teams, potentially weakening your account flexibility. That said, his raw damage output is top-tier, and he’s been heavily marketed and supported in Version 3.4. If you want a meta-relevant DPS and are willing to build around him, Phainon is worth pulling.

3. Sunday

Sunday is currently one of the most hyped supports in the meta. Ever since 3.0, every new DPS seems to love him. His synergy with Hypercarry-style teams is incredible, and he’s especially good with Phainon, Mydei, Aglaea, and others. Right now, he’s at his peak in terms of usage.

However, he does face some limitations. First, his buffs (Crit, ATK, etc.) are more common and can lead to oversaturation if not carefully built around. Second, his role might be challenged shortly, with the upcoming units potentially replacing or competing with him.

And finally, Sunday is already locked into a lot of teams, so using him for Phainon might restrict his availability elsewhere. He’s amazing in the current moment, but might face value loss depending on how other upcoming units turn out and how the meta shifts. If you already have Tribbie and don’t care about future support units, he’s still a great pick.

4. Sparkle

Let’s be real, Sparkle is a one-hit wonder. She was made to work with Dr. Ratio, and she does that extremely well. But outside of him, her value falls off hard. Pulling a whole support just to work with a single damage dealer is not a good idea, especially when that DPS (Ratio) is already falling off due to power creep.

Sure, Sparkle has some unique mechanics like SP regeneration and action manipulation, but with Ratio fading out of the meta and no other units benefiting from her kit the same way, she’s just not a smart pull right now. There’s little flexibility with her unless future units are tailor-made to fit her again, and that’s a gamble. Use her if you have her, but don’t pull just to make her work.
