Roadman, a gritty crime sim with prejudice, power struggles, and gunfights, launches on Android this June 19

  • Roadman is a free-to-play sim that blends third-person shooting with a crime management twist.
  • The game offers sandbox freedom, dark satire, gangs, weapons, fast-paced skirmishes, and more.
  • Thanks to Google Play Games on PC, even PC players can jump into the early access.

Roadman is an upcoming crime management sim, which is set to launch in early access on Android on June 19, 2025. The game’s creative director, Shaun Leach, described it as more than just a game and that it’s a social commentary. Early access for iOS will come later.

Hustle, manage, and grow in a world that judges your every move

Roadman is a free-to-play sim that blends third-person shooting with a crime management twist. Set in a gritty world where everyone’s hustling to make a name, you play as a roadman, intending to build and manage your underground empire.

I’ve always loved GTA-like crime games, and this one intrigues me too. With £10,000 up for grabs, how you earn it is up to you, from making new deals, managing your crew, or diving into shady markets. What makes it even better is that every choice of yours comes with a risk.

That said, what makes the game stand out is how alive the world looks. Interestingly, pedestrians react differently depending on your race, religion, and even your wealth in different districts. Themes of prejudice and dark satire make me more intrigued to experience this title.

Experience a living, layered city shaped by players and stories

Moreover, the city is built in layers, from big locations to small, action-packed districts. While some areas are gang-dominated, others may be filled with dealers or specific communities. And as Jeff, the architect of the game, mentioned, the map even changes based on how many players are in the session.

The game surely looks promising, with sandbox freedom, a city full of dark satire and unique characters, a variety of weapons, gangs, and more. However, I do hope the devs improve the game’s visuals by the time it officially launches.
